Just a quick update: We’ve not vanished or given up on the internet - we’re just really busy at the moment working on a very big project with a tight deadline.  Thank you to everyone who has e-mailed and commented on some of our posts, we’ll get back to you all, we promise.  The mayhem should end in about 3 weeks when we will return with tutorials, links, tips, galleries and showcases. 

Sorry for the very criptic ‘we’re busy but can’t tell you what it is we’re doing’ post, but we have to keep schtum on this one else we get in a whole boat load of trouble!

If you would like us to do any more resolutions, then let us know in the comments below - we’re pretty sure we can knock up some for mobile phone resolutions and multi-monitor setups too. You’re completely free to use these images as you wish - if you want to photoshop them so that you remove our little website name, feel free, but it would be nice to see what you do with them…enjoy!

• First, download and install the 2 plugins [FlickrRSS and Lightbox2]
• In the flickrrss.php file which you’ll find in your Wordpress Plugins directory (/wp-content/plugins/flickrrss/flickrrss.php for example) you need to find the line [no. 110 for us] which reads:

  print $before_image . "<a title="\&quot;$title\&quot;" href="\"><img src="\" alt="\&quot;$title\&quot;" /></a>" . $after_image;

• You need to modify this line so that LightBox2 knows that it is a link which it should handle. You do this by adding a rel=”lightbox” so that line should now read:

  print $before_image . "<a title="\&quot;$title\&quot;" rel="\&quot;lightbox\&quot;" href="\"><img src="\" alt="\&quot;$title\&quot;" /></a>" . $after_image;

• As it stands, (if you were to set $img_url = $imgurl) when you clicked on an image from your feed your lightbox would pop up but the same image would be displayed. This isn’t ideal as we want a larger version of the thumbnail to get put into the LightBox, so we need to alter the image url
• Directly above the line of code we have just altered, create a new line which has the following:

  $img_url = str_replace("_s.jpg", ".jpg", $imgurl);

  $url = str_replace(”_m.jpg”, “.jpg”, $imgUrlMatches[1]);

• This now gives the Lightbox the bigger “medium-sized” image link from Flickr instead of the thumbnail

And that’s us done! Save all of that and you should have a working Flickr RSS feed with Lightbox2 integration. Thank you to the writers of both the Plugins used and of course the wonderful people who create Wordpress and keep it at the best possible price…nadda!

Update: Lynn, in comment 3, has informed me that the original code didn’t work with the new version 4.0 of FlickRSS.  She also, rather nicely, has figured out how to edit the code to make it work!  Bravo!  The code above should now work with the new version of FlickrRSS 4.0!

For your viewing and desktop pleasure, RichardTape.com will be releasing 2 free wallpapers this coming Monday (28th July 2008).  They will be in a ‘minimalist’ style and will be of all shapes and sizes and resolutions going all the way up to 1920×1080.  If demand is high we will produce a multi-monitor version.  There has been quite a few hours work gone into producing these little beauties, so we hope you like them.  There’s a few finishing touches to do (hence the delay until Monday) but we think that they’ll be worth the wait.

Here’s a couple of previews for you to have a look at! There’s lots of freebies to come from us including Wordpress Themes & plugins, Web 2.0 Apps, artwork, tutorials and a whole manner of wonderfullness.

As some of you will know I’m a member of DUFFA, (Didsbury Ultimate Frisbee For Amateurs) a team which play every Thursday and Sunday at Didsbury Park (starting at 18:30 and 18:00 respectively). This coming weekend, the 26th and 27th July 2008 DUFFA is sponsoring its very own hat tournament at Burnage Rugby Club. If you’re even remotely interested then please come along at 9am on Saturday - it’s awesome fun, great exercise, really friendly and above all, we’ll get drunk afterwards!

There’s a DUFFA website with all the information and also this link on Facebook. You can register now at http://www.duffa.org/hat and if you come down this Thursday we’ll be running a skills session and also you’ll be able to save a couple of quid!  There’ll be loads of prizes, a big party on the Saturday night, you get a free T-Shirt with your registration as well as a camping spot for the Saturday night.  It’s going to be great and we’d love to see you there!

If you have no idea what I’m going on about, here’s a heads up to what Ultimate Frisbee is.  It’s basically a cross between American Football and Netball - when you ‘grab’ the frisbee you can’t move until you have passed it on.  If someone catches it in the designated ‘End Zone’ that team scores a point!  Dead simple!
