Wordpress 2.6 released
Matt just announced the (ahead of schedule) release of Wordpress version 2.6. Most of you who use Wordpress will already know this as your admin panel will have told you there’s an update available. This is now one step closer to the end goal of WP 3.0 which I know a lot of people are looking forward to. There’s lots of cool extra features included in this update as well as a whole boat load of bug fixes. (List of features and a lovely video of what’s new after the break…)
Here’s a brief run down of what is waiting for you when you take the plunge:
- Post revisions: Wiki-like tracking of edits
- “Press This” - ability to post from wherever you are on the web via a Bookmark placed on your toolbar
- Utilising Google Gears to help speed up Wordpress page loads
- Theme previews - when you (re)design a new theme you can try it out first before making it live
- A word count feature when you’re creating a new post
- A revamped image control with implementation into the WYSIWYG editor
- An adjustment to captions for images
- Full SSL support in the core (with the ability to force SSL)
- 194 bug fixes
Go have a look at the official page to see the full run down. Great work Wordpress, thanks!
